    Oakburn Park Precinct Redevelopment Initiative

    Find out more

    About the project

    VISION

The Oakburn Park Redevelopment Project is a comprehensive, multi-stage endeavor valued at over $50 million, poised to transform the region's motorsports and community engagement landscape. The project involves a thorough redevelopment of existing infrastructure, integrating state-of-the-art facilities and tracks to cater to diverse motorsport disciplines and training needs.

At the heart of the redevelopment is the construction of a 1.2km Touring Car Circuit. This circuit is designed to meet the highest standards of safety and performance, providing a professional-grade track for competitive racing events. Complementing this is the creation of a 3.1km Touring Car Circuit, a longer and more complex track aimed at hosting major motorsport events and attracting both national and international attention. These circuits will not only enhance the competitive edge of local motorsports but also serve as a training ground for aspiring drivers.

In addition to the touring car circuits, the redevelopment project includes the establishment of a Driver Training and STEM Workshop Facility. This dual-purpose facility will offer advanced driver training programs, focusing on safety, skill enhancement, and performance driving. The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Workshop component aims to engage and educate the community, particularly young people, in the technological and engineering aspects of motorsports. This facility will foster a deeper understanding of the science behind the sport, promoting educational opportunities and inspiring future generations of engineers and drivers.

Another significant feature of the Oakburn Park Redevelopment is the construction of a Quarter Mile Drag Strip. This strip is designed for high-speed drag racing, providing a safe and regulated environment for enthusiasts and professionals to compete. The drag strip will cater to a wide range of vehicles, from street-legal cars to purpose-built drag racers, and is expected to host numerous events, drawing large crowds and boosting local tourism.

The project also encompasses the upgrading and expansion of existing infrastructure. This includes modernizing the current facilities to ensure they meet contemporary standards and can accommodate increased usage. Enhancements to spectator areas, parking, and accessibility will improve the overall experience for visitors and participants alike.

The Oakburn Park Redevelopment Project is not just a significant investment in motorsports infrastructure but also a catalyst for economic and community development. By creating a premier motorsports precinct, the project will attract events, tourism, and business opportunities, driving economic growth and community engagement. The multi-stage approach ensures that each component is meticulously planned and executed, resulting in a world-class facility that will serve the region for years to come.
